Guided Excursions in
Southern & Central Africa
Journey to the Source of the Nile
Duration: Between 45 and 50 days.
This will be the maiden journey of this specific safari route, and will obviously present its unique teething challenges on this unexplored journey.
This journey will enter Zimbabwe at Beit Bridge to the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, from where we will proceed to the outskirts of Harare, from where Mozambique will be entered through the Nyamapanda borderpost.
Tete on the mighty Zambezi, and then through Cassacatiza into Zambia into Chipata. From here we enter the wild South Luanga Nat. Park where we will rest for a day or two.
From here the journey swings towards Lilongwe, through to Salima / Senga Bay in Malawi -
We now enter Tanzania -
The route now turns inland through Korogwe, Same, Moshi to Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru and Arusha, the tourism capital of Tanzania.
From Arusha the journey targets the Ngorogoro Crater, from where the next destination will be the Serengeti Nat. Park where you will witness the greatest display on earth, where a million Blue Wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of Zebra, migrate on the plains of the Serengeti and the Masai Mara in Kenya.
Masai Mara Nat. Park to Kisumu, where the Equator will be crossed, and then onwards to Jinja, The Source of the Nile!
Here we will spend a few days for exploring, rest and maintenance on vehicles.
From Jinja to Kampala, the capital of Uganda, on to cross the Equator between Kampala and Masaka, on to Bukoba in Tanzania.
Roads will now start deteriorating as we get to Nyakanazi, and further towards Kigoma and Ujiji on the shores of Lake Tanganyika.
Ujiji is the place where Stanley met Livingstone where the famous words: “Doctor Livingstone I presume!” were uttered.
The journey now enters some of the most remote areas in Tanzania, when we head south towards Mpanda, and the utterly remote and wild Katavi Nat. Park, and then to a very remote Lakeshore campsite on the shores of Lake Tanganyika.
We now head back to Mbeya and the main road to Zambia. Now through Kapisha Hot Springs, Kanona, Kandalila Falls, Kapiri Mposhi towards Lusaka, the capital of Zambia.
Lusaka, Kafue, Livingstone and the Majestic Victoria Falls.
From this point we take it easy, enjoy the Falls, carry on to Kasane in Botswana where we view the world famous Chobe Elephants crossing the river, then head towards Nata, where we visit the world’s largest natural salt pans -
